Sheep breeding:

Presently the flocks of the Frigorífico Modelo S.A. amount to 11,000 heads of Corriedale sheep.

The Company applies severe selection criterion based on fineness of fleece, without compromising its production per head. During the 2006 wool clip, lambs' fleece averaged 26 microns (this is within the range of fine Corriedale wool).
Forty-eight thousand kilos of wool were produced, of which 36,000 were "Green Seal" fleece (sheared under the Uruguayan Wool Secretariat's "Green Seal" standard).
